The Yamp Directory is a 100% human edited web directory and quality web directory that helps your site to gain higher search engine results. We provides permanent regular and featured links. All listings are reviewed by humans (me and Nick mostly) and listed on search engine friendly web pages.
It does take time to go through the links as we get a little over 400 requests per day... so please be patient.
Simple FAQ:
One of the things we are always asked is "Why was my link refused?" - the answer often is that the site has no pagerank and is new or it contains a ton of errors or simply is a bluffspot page wherein it points to another devious page. Ok.. more info below:
• If your site has no pagerank: It will be refused unless you provide a reciprocal link. This helps in getting rid of the new pages that some webmasters put up and forget about - causing our directory to take a hit because the page no longer exists or 404 errors out. So we decided when we started that to get on to Yamp will take a bit of effort on the part of the webmaster. We feel that if you have a pagerank of 2 or higher you are really putting forth some effort to get noticed... therefore we'll help you along.
• If Your Site is New: we all have new sites coming up, we understand your need to get the word out about it - but... in order to help you, you have to help us. We require a simple reciprocal link back to us. Pretty simple. Make a simple html page and call it links and put it on your server and just post our link on it... this will get you more action for linking than you know. As well, we always constantly check the links every month - if your link is gone or our link is gone - we simply delete your listing. Sorry but we have to be fair to the others.
• A bluffspot page: this is a page which simply points to another page whether it is devious or simply marketing - we don't allow it. End of story.
• A language other than English: If your site is in a language other than English we will kick the submission. Sorry but this site caters to English only. We do get a lot of Russian and Romanian listings and we are working on transferring this site into those languages... coming soon! So, if you attempt to post a link and the site is in a language other than English, it will be deleted. If we find that the link has an English version -- post that link - we'll be more than happy to list it.
• If your site is naughty: If your site contains nasty and naughty bits then please put it in the adult section. We will possibly post your link but please don't post adult items in the Toys/Games - do you really want some kid to go to that portion of our directory to see that...? No, we didn't think so. While some ads may be tasteful - some others may not. So we do not normally allow sites that show genitalia to be linked.
